Two-color detectors incorporate a Si photodiode mounted over a PbS detector, PbSe detector, or InGaAs PIN photodiode along the same optical axis. These sensors have a wide spectral response range from UV to IR. The Si photodiode is specially designed to be transparent to infrared light. Thermoelectrically cooled types maintain a constant temperature during operation, allowing precision measurement with an improved signal-to-noise ratio. These devices are used in spectrophotometers, pyrometers and flame sensors.
