InGaAs PIN photodiodes deliver high-speed response and low noise due to a low terminal capacitance and a large shunt resistance. A wide range of devices are available with active areas ranging from 0.08 to 5 mm diameter, covering the spectral range from 0.9 to 1.67 µm and peak response is at 1.55 µm. They can be used for near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, optical communications and laser power meters.
