Hamamatsu's QCLs produce light from 4 to 10 microns. Their active areas are designed by means of Band Structure Engineering. Hamamatsu has the capabilities to design, grow, process, package, and test QCL devices. Three types of QCLs are available:
- CW DFB lasers
-
Pulsed DFB lasers
-
Fabry-Perot lasers
We make Pulsed DFB lasers from 4 to 14 microns and CW lasers from 4.5 to 10.5 microns.
DFB devices have very narrow line widths that are suitable for gas detection. Fabry-Perot lasers generate a wide wavelength range and much higher power output than DFB lasers. Devices can be provided on C-mount heatsinks, on open heatsinks, or in HHL packages. We also offer laser drivers and infrared detectors that can be used with QCLs.
QCL applications include environmental monitoring, toxic chemical detection, explosives detection and breath analysis. For more information on mid-IR emitters and detectors, please contact us with your wavelength requirements.
